An Interesting Twist Of Events
Was reading the news tonight online when my main page popped up this article. This will be something interesting to keep track of to see where politicians lie on the issue of same sex marriages.
Keep reading if you dare and over 18 ~ I'm on my soap box and well I'll not even read it until after I post it :smile. At least I hope I keep the train of thought going in the right direction!!!!
Yet, while reading this, I couldn't help but think ~ for once in some places same sex marriages are being performed and apparently many other states are on board also, but what happens if this discussed amendment to the Constitution is passed??? *footnote if you want to read about that head over here, I stole the link off T's blog*
I mean, for the one's whom have been lucky enough to legalize their union, will it then become null and void, or do those marriages stay on the books??? And how can a state, President, or country null and void your marriage????
Now don't get me wrong, I like Bush. Yeah, T I can hear you mumbling and items you are voicing, but we have disagreed before :smile. However, how can anyone tell anyone else the person they love is unconstitutionally unacceptable, morally unacceptable and the like????
If you want to get nick picky, Whtetigr had a bit of a post on the subject also :smile.
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't one's personal spiritual walk in life between them and God ALONE?? Does it not say in the bible "thou shalt not judge"? I'll even take it a step further from the Bible itself in 1st Corinthians Chapter 4 verses 3 & 4. "I care very little if I am judged by you or by any human court; indeed, I do not even judge myself. My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me."
So I'm over here going things that make you go :hum !!! With the talk of the Constitution being changed to prevent such things happening, now a Mayor being charged by marrying people of the same sex ~ what is next???
Do we as a country not have better things to worry about??? The welfare system, oh there is a concept!!! First and foremost in our minds today, our troops over in Iraq!!! For that matter our troops in ever troubled country dying daily ~ our financial well being as a country, which is dying quickly. What about the amount of homeless people???? The sad part of that statistic is these days as we are busy financing other countries wars and protection, our families are being evicted daily because we can't afford to keep factories, business and the like up and running here in America. Jobs are being lost left and right forcing people literally on the streets!!
Yes, I know, especially in my upbringing I'm going to get some comments from those who "trip" by my blog and quote verse of the bible against homosexuality. So why haven't I posted those entries, well basically in a nut shell, read above!!! It is NOT my place to judge a persons life style or sexual preferences any more than it is anyone's place to judge me and/or mine.
In my humble soap opera version of a person is this ~ I don't meet someone and ask "Do you like the opposite sex?" and then decide if I'll become friends with them. I meet a person, talk, build a relationship with them and determine rather or not I want to be friends with them for whom they are inside, not their life style. To me judging a person by their life style shows a shallowness within your own self and something that maybe the person who does judges another needs to seek within themselves to fix.
In summary, it isn't my place nor do I want it to be my place, to judge someone by their color, beliefs, or sexual preference. Friendships, TRUE friendships are hard to come by, they don't even rank in the "a dime a dozen" category. So if you eliminate a large portion of society on the onset it isn't them who are losing out ~ it would be yourself!!! Just my humble opinion and something to ponder on before you start sling out insults towards those who live a different life style than yours............never forget they are human, they have feelings and they deserve to be loved and respected and allowed all the rights as any heterosexual individual. How easy it is to take for granted as a heterosexual and pass judgment when you've never walked there shoes now isn't it. Well I'm proud to say I won't pass judgment and I believe they deserve the same rights as I can obtain to find happiness/love and a well rounded life.
I DON'T DO DRUGS ~ I GET THE SAME EFFECT STANDING UP FAST

Good remarks... I think gay/lesbian couples should get the same sort of recognition as married people.
Re: All the grumbling over Bush and his comments... please remember it was CLINTON'S congress that passed the Defense of Marriage Act, people... m'kay?
Posted by: lonewolf at March 3, 2004 1:17 AMCrud...didn't realize that you can't edit...LOL
Something else to think on... Bush and the Republicans gave everyone ~$600 last year off their taxes... Dems want to rescind that. Who is leaving more money in your pocket for your mortgage?
The Dems have never seen an entitlement program they didn't love - unfortunately, they pay for it out of our pockets.
Posted by: lonewolf at March 3, 2004 1:19 AMNice post. You did stay on track :)
Posted by: Mad Bull at March 3, 2004 4:58 AM...I don't have an opinion on gay marriage - I do have an opinion on marriage...because of a catholic upbringing I have built inside me several things that scare (and scar) me...one of those is the sanctity of marriage and the fact that it is a sacrament - and yet I am *not* religious...
...marriage is a sign to the world that you love the person you are marrying...I don't wear any jewelry except for a single stud earring, a wedding ring and an intertwined-three-gold-rings affair...I wear the four rings on my "wedding" finger - I am proud to be married, I am devoted to the 3 people in my life...my *religion* is my marriage, my family...
...and so I have no thoughts about gay marriages, straight marriages - I have a lot of opinions on marriage though :^)...
...marriage is about love, about devotion, it is a promise between two people...I am rubbish with words, I can never really tell you how much I love my wife and so I have tried through an action - I married her, I devoted my life to her...all I ask is that you don't cheapen my marriage, my action...
...so if people want to get married, do so, but only if you love your partner as much as I love mine...don't get married for the fame, the publicity, the moment...
...and that's my soapbox stood all over :^)...
Your politics over there is still a complete mystery to me so I am at a big disadvantage on your consitution. However Jamie I think its a valid question. I am all for same sex marriages if you need to confirm your commitment in a church or where ever. Is your church not separate from your government? Although now I think about it we cannot have a Catholic monarch so ours isn't either. I must confess though Jamie the mere mention of Bushe's name didn't make me mumble it made me gnash my teeth...grrrrr but at the same token you know I don't judge either, so you like him I respect your view. To be honest I really shouldn't watch or read another thing on politics. Blair has my blood pressure rising everytime he opens his gob. Anyway it will be sad as T mentioned on her blog for those who have come out and admitted they are gay etc. etc.
I'll give you a ring maybe the weekend if I am up early enough, but please don't ring me Jamie @ O'Crack sparrow fart as things are a bit fractious on the domestic front. Even though I dont like censoring my friends and I love talking to you I need to keep a bit of matromonial peace right now.
Love ya loads, Sylvie (mom)
Posted by: Sylvie at March 4, 2004 5:48 AMYes mom I understand about the not ringing you up right now *smile*, but I also want you to know there will be some down time in reaching me due to the move, I'll private email you with further information!!!
