Just Call Me Betty Crocker
Yes, I shocked my hubby last night. Baking use to be my passion years and years ago, however, since Speed and I have been married I barely bake anymore.
Well Little Ms. Prissy Princess preschool the parents have to sign up to bring snacks for the class. My day just happened to fall on the day they are celebrating Valentine's day since they are out of school next week. Yippy Yi Ya ~ the teacher informed me that I needed to bring cookies and milk ~ okay I can handle that :smile. Then she dropped the bomb shell that I needed to bring cookies that they could decorate themselves. Okay things are starting to grow more complicated. :crazy
So I go through all my receipes to find sugar cookies ~ I don't feel like heading out to the grocery store to get some of the items needed so I decide on tea cookies :smile. Anyhoot, last night consisted of me making the dough and cutting out little heart shaped tea cookies and baking.
When done, hubby picked one up and ate it and said "Damn baby you do know how to make cookies from scratch I'm impressed". Okay can I slap him NOW thank you very much!!!
Little Ms. Prissy Princess was so excited this a.m. to show off her cookies and all her Valentine cards that she made for her class ~ it was a pain in the ass to say the least ~ but watching her this a.m. so excited and bragging it made it worth it.
More good news on the kids home front ~
Q15 had baseball try outs this week. He is a freshman as I'm sure I've mentioned before and excells not only in school but in baseball. He got home last night after the final try outs to announce he not only made the baseball team, but has been moved up to the JV team as their starting catcher for the season. :bounce He was one of only three freshman's that made the JV team and is the only one that is in the starting line up.
I'm so proud of him and he was really excited about it. Today he called me because he forgot his school id and $$ needed for baseball equipment and sounded really down in the lip about life. So I ask him what was wrong ~ he begins to inform me that during his a.m. work out some of the guys whom he has played select baseball with for the past few years and didn't make it on the JV team began telling him and the coach that Q15 wasn't the most qualified for the team, yada yada yada.
Q15 really took it all to heart and began doubting himself and thinking about talking to the coach to put someone else in the position. :angry !!!! MAMA DON'T THINK SO!!!! So he and I had to have a mother/son chit chat and talk with him about jealousy of others. I'm happy to say that by the time I left school from seeing him he was feeling more confident about himself and his abilities. Now those kids don't want to see me for sometime let me tell ya!!!! Mama bear has her claws out!!!
Well I guess that covers the news on this home front and as hard as I'm trying to stay away from the chores that really need my attention I do believe their callings are becoming more louder so I'll depart now.
WE CAN HANDLE ANY PROBLEMS ~ WE HAVE KIDS!!!

That's my girl....referring to Q15. Just letting you know I popped in and read your blog. Hope all works out on the 10th Feb.
Love, Sylvie

Posted by: Whtetigr at February 10, 2004 5:07 PMWell Betty, sounds like the fuss and pain in the ass was well worth it! Children are worth so many sacrafices we do for them, even the fussy baking. Now, know what I'm doing? I bought some wrapped candy hearts and some chocolate ones too, I'll be taping them to cards that I'm making on the computer. I had my two youngest draw pictures for on their class-mates cards, so I'll scan them, then convert them to little cute cards with a scan of the boys writing inside. They will have to add the names of the kids in the class on them (good writing/printing practice, right??
